Undoubtedly the arcades. Not slick or streamlined or stylish, but incredible in their own sense: think total transportation to an ethereal, Victorian place (where lace, all things ornate, wrought iron, and corsets reign supreme..) I particularly liked Block Arcade, which - I think! - was between Collins and Elizabeth streets. Think coins, hats, haberdashery, mosaic floors, chocolatiers... bliss, in the most eclectic, old-fashioned, utter-vintage sense. Take me back!
