One of Australia's premier tourist attractions the Central Deborah Gold Mine provides a unique and memorable introduction to Bendigo and its history. A trip 20 storeys below Bendigo is the way to go.

Pop on your hard hat with its miner's light and take a leisurely stroll on Level 2 of the mine to learn about the fascinating history of gold mining in Bendigo. Or perhaps try out the new and exciting adventure tour on Level 3. Yes you will be able to see gold in the quartz reef on the mine's tunnels. Central Deborah is the real thing! The Central Deborah Gold Mine was the last commercial mine to operate in Bendigo. In the period from 1939 to 1954 about one tonne of gold was unearthed from the mine, worth around $12,000,000 AUS in today's prices. The mine closed for a number of years until 1986 when it was re-opened for underground tours and miners once again ventured below with visitors to explore the fascinating tunnels and drives below.

A fascinating self-guided museum tour on the surface of the Central Deborah Gold Mine. Wander amoungst the treasure trove of vintage machinery or try gold panning . Climb the mine's poppet head for a fantastic bird's eye-view of the world.



Unique Dining

Located 20 storeys below Bendigo in the Central Deborah Gold Mine, the Underground Function Room seats up to 70 people enjoying Central Deborah's acclaimed haute cuisine. In addition, groups can enjoy a pre- or post-dinner underground tour.
